Vodafone Travel eSIM Review: My Results Across Europe

By Sergio Soares Published August 17, 2026 24 min read

Vodafone is one of the most recognizable mobile brands in Europe, but its international travel eSIM is separate from the regular Vodafone plans sold within countries such as Germany, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

That distinction matters when you are comparing plans from Canada.

Vodafone Travel is a prepaid, data-only service designed for international travellers. It offers individual-country packages, regional plans and selected unlimited options across more than 200 destinations. You do not need to be an existing Vodafone customer to use it.

I used Vodafone Travel during a combination of real business and personal trips through the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, the Azores, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, France and Belgium.

My experience was consistently strong. I averaged approximately 120 to 190 Mbps for downloads across the eight countries, with latency ranging from approximately 22 to 32 milliseconds.

Those are excellent real-world results for a travel eSIM.

They do not guarantee that every traveller will receive the same performance. The local network, location, congestion, phone and roaming arrangement can all affect the connection. However, the results give Vodafone Travel something many provider reviews lack: genuine performance evidence across a multi-country European itinerary.

My Vodafone Travel eSIM Verdict

Vodafone Travel is a strong choice when you need substantial mobile data across several European countries and want to keep using the same eSIM as you cross borders.

The Europe plan currently covers 42 countries, including the United Kingdom, and supports hotspot sharing. Vodafone markets the service as 5G-ready where 5G is available, although the network and radio connection can change from one destination to another.

Its biggest strengths are the large data allowances, multi-country coverage and the speeds I experienced during my trips. The performance was fast enough for navigation, email, browsing, social media, streaming, hotspot use and other demanding mobile tasks.

Vodafone Travel is less suitable if you need a European phone number, ordinary mobile calls or SMS. It is a data-only service, so calls must go through apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, Signal or Teams unless you keep another mobile line active.

Network transparency is another limitation. Vodafone identifies several possible networks in Germany, but it does not provide the same clear country-by-country carrier information throughout Europe.

I would shortlist Vodafone Travel for a European trip, especially if the current high-data plans fit your itinerary. I would still keep offline maps or a second eSIM available when uninterrupted connectivity is critical.

What Exactly Is Vodafone Travel eSIM?

Vodafone Travel is a standalone international travel service operated by Vodafone Global Connect in Luxembourg.

It is not the same as converting an existing Canadian mobile line to an eSIM. It also does not turn your phone into a regular Vodafone customer account in Germany, Portugal, Italy, Spain or another country.

You select a destination or region, purchase a prepaid data allowance and install a separate eSIM profile on your phone. The travel eSIM then connects through Vodafone’s available roaming arrangements at your destination.

This means a Canadian traveller can keep a Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Freedom Mobile or other Canadian SIM active while using Vodafone Travel for mobile data.

Vodafone Travel also should not be confused with similarly named Vodafone products sold by third-party eSIM websites. Some reseller plans include a British phone number, calls or SMS. Those are different products with different operators and terms.

This review covers the official Vodafone Travel service available through Vodafone’s travel platform.

My Vodafone Travel eSIM Speed Results Across Europe

I used Vodafone Travel during real trips rather than running a laboratory or controlled network test.

The figures below are approximate observations from my travel. They should not be interpreted as nationwide averages, theoretical maximum speeds or a guarantee of what another traveller will receive.

Country or locationApproximate downloadApproximate uploadApproximate latency
Netherlands, including Amsterdam190 Mbps60 Mbps28 ms
Germany185 Mbps55 Mbps25 ms
Portugal and the Azores180 Mbps53 Mbps27 ms

Spain175 Mbps48 Mbps25 ms
United Kingdom145 Mbps40 Mbps27 ms
France120 Mbps35 Mbps30 ms
Belgium140 Mbps45 Mbps32 ms

All eight download results were above approximately 120 Mbps.

Even the lowest result in France was more than sufficient for the mobile activities most travellers depend on. The latency also remained within a relatively narrow range across the trip.

These measurements show that Vodafone Travel delivered a fast connection during my European travel. They do not prove that the service is never throttled, always receives priority access or connects to the same network for every customer.

Infographic comparing Vodafone Travel eSIM download speeds, upload speeds and latency from first-hand testing across eight European countries.

How Vodafone Travel eSIM Performed Country by Country

Netherlands and Amsterdam

The Netherlands produced my fastest Vodafone Travel result.

I averaged approximately 190 Mbps for downloads, 60 Mbps for uploads and 28 milliseconds of latency, including testing in Amsterdam.

That gave me plenty of performance for maps, communication, browsing and data-intensive tasks. It was the strongest overall result from the countries included in this review.

I cannot identify the serving Dutch network from the speed result alone. Vodafone Travel does not currently provide the same clear partner-network list for the Netherlands that it publishes for Germany.

Germany

Germany was close behind the Netherlands at approximately 185 Mbps down, 55 Mbps up and 25 milliseconds of latency.

Vodafone Travel’s Germany documentation says the eSIM may typically connect to Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone Deutschland or Telefónica Germany, also known as O2. The phone is supposed to select the strongest available partner automatically.

That is one of the clearest network disclosures Vodafone provides for a European destination.

My result does not establish which of those networks carried the individual tests. It does show that the connection I received in Germany was fast and responsive.

Portugal and the Azores

Portugal was one of the most valuable parts of my testing because I also used Vodafone Travel in the Azores.

I averaged approximately 180 Mbps for downloads, 53 Mbps for uploads and 27 milliseconds of latency across the Portugal and Azores experience.

Travel eSIM coverage information often focuses on mainland cities such as Lisbon and Porto. Seeing strong performance in the Azores made Vodafone Travel more useful for my actual itinerary.

That result should not be treated as a guarantee across every island, town or remote part of the archipelago. Island terrain and local network coverage can change significantly by location.

If the Azores are central to your trip, confirm that they remain covered by the plan you are purchasing and keep offline maps available.

For a wider comparison of travel and local options, see the Best eSIM for Portugal From Canada guide.

Italy

My Vodafone Travel download result in Italy was approximately 180 Mbps, with uploads around 50 Mbps and latency around 22 milliseconds.

That made Italy another strong market during my travel, with enough performance for navigation, browsing, streaming, video calls and other normal travel use.

As with the other results in this review, performance can still vary by location, local network conditions and congestion.

The Best eSIM for Italy From Canada guide compares Vodafone-related options with other international and local choices.

Spain

In Spain, I averaged approximately 175 Mbps down, 48 Mbps up and 25 milliseconds of latency.

That was not the fastest result of the trip, but it was still comfortably within the range I would consider excellent for a travel eSIM.

Vodafone Travel offers both Spain-specific and Europe regional plans. A Spain plan may make sense for a single-country holiday, while the regional option is more practical when the itinerary continues into Portugal, France, Italy or another included destination.

United Kingdom

My United Kingdom result was approximately 145 Mbps for downloads, 40 Mbps for uploads and 27 milliseconds of latency.

Vodafone confirms that the Europe regional eSIM includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland even though the UK is outside the European Union.

That makes the regional product useful for itineraries combining the UK with continental Europe. You do not have to install another eSIM simply because the trip crosses between the UK and the EU.

The Best eSIM for UK From Canada guide provides a broader comparison of UK travel options.

France

France produced approximately 120 Mbps down, 35 Mbps up and 30 milliseconds of latency.

This was my lowest download result among the eight countries, but it was still fast enough that speed was not a practical limitation during my trip.

I previously considered whether Vodafone Travel might connect through Orange in France. I would not publish that as a fact without current Vodafone Travel documentation confirming the relationship.

Strong performance cannot identify the serving carrier by itself.

For destination-specific recommendations, see the Best eSIM for France From Canada guide.

Belgium

In Belgium, I averaged approximately 140 Mbps for downloads, 45 Mbps for uploads and 32 milliseconds of latency.

The result was strong, although latency was slightly higher than in the other countries I tested.

As with France, I would not assume the eSIM used Proximus or another particular Belgian network. Vodafone does not currently provide enough product-specific information to support that conclusion.

Vodafone Travel eSIM Plans and Pricing

Vodafone sells both country-specific and regional plans.

A country plan can be useful when the entire trip takes place in one destination. The Europe plan becomes more attractive when you are crossing borders because the same allowance can work throughout the included region.

At the time of this review, the Europe plan covered 42 countries and offered fixed allowances ranging from 1GB to 50GB before temporary promotional data was added.

Prices were checked on August 17, 2026. The Canadian conversions use approximately €1 = C$1.6057 and are provided only as a planning reference.

Vodafone was offering a 15% discount and temporary double data on selected plans when these prices were checked. The summer double-data promotion was advertised through September 30, but Vodafone reserved the right to end it early.

That means the promotional allowance should not be treated as the permanent plan structure.

Check the current Vodafone Travel Europe plans before purchasing. The checkout screen should control if the allowance, price or validity differs from this table.

Travel Together

Travel Together is Vodafone’s shared-data option.

The current Europe version includes 100GB for 15 days and can connect up to five travellers or devices. The person managing the plan can invite other users and monitor the shared allowance from one account.

It may be useful for a family or small group that wants one large data pool.

However, compare its total cost with buying separate eSIMs. Individual plans can provide better control when travellers expect different levels of data use or may separate during the trip.

Important: Vodafone’s Unlimited Plan Is Not Unlimited Full-Speed Data

Vodafone currently describes its unlimited option as 5GB of high-speed data each day. After the daily allowance is used, service continues at speeds of up to 5 Mbps. Check the plan duration, price and complete fair-use wording at checkout because unlimited-plan presentations can change.

Infographic showing how Vodafone Travel eSIM connects through Vodafone group networks and roaming partners, with three available networks in Germany as an example.

What Networks Does Vodafone eSIM Use?

Vodafone Travel operates as a roaming product.

The eSIM connects to partner networks available under Vodafone’s agreements rather than guaranteeing one specific carrier in every country. Your phone may select the available network automatically as you cross borders.

Germany is the clearest example. Vodafone’s current Germany destination page identifies three networks that customers will typically use:

  • Deutsche Telekom
  • Vodafone Deutschland
  • Telefónica Germany, also known as O2

Vodafone says the phone should automatically choose the strongest available connection.

The same level of disclosure was not available for the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, France or Belgium when this review was prepared.

That does not mean Vodafone Travel has only one network in those countries. It means the product information is not clear enough to promise a specific carrier or multiple-network access.

This lack of transparency matters when network selection is important to your trip. A carrier that performs well in a capital city may not be the best option in a rural area, on an island or along a train route.

Does Vodafone eSIM Always Use a Native Vodafone Network?

No reliable rule says it will always use a native Vodafone operation simply because Vodafone has a network in the destination.

The Travel eSIM and the local Vodafone mobile business are related through the broader brand, but they are not the same consumer product.

A travel plan may use a native Vodafone operation, another roaming partner or several eligible networks. The arrangement can also vary by destination or plan.

The safest approach is to check the current destination page and plan details before buying. If Vodafone does not name the partner, do not assume one from the logo or from a speed test.

Vodafone eSIM 5G, Hotspot, Calls and SMS

Is 5G Included?

Vodafone markets its travel plans as 5G-ready.

That means an eligible plan and compatible phone may connect to 5G where the partner network and local coverage support it. It does not guarantee 5G everywhere.

I did not assign a 4G or 5G label to the individual measurements in this review because that information was not supplied with the results.

Can Vodafone Travel Be Used as a Hotspot?

Vodafone says hotspot sharing is included on its Europe plans at no additional cost.

This can be useful for connecting a laptop, tablet or another traveller’s phone. It also makes the larger 20GB and 50GB allowances more practical for working, streaming or travelling with several devices.

Hotspot use can consume a data allowance quickly. Cloud backups, software updates and video calls are especially easy to overlook when a laptop is connected.

Does Vodafone Travel Include a Phone Number?

Vodafone Travel is data-only and does not provide an ordinary mobile number for standard calls or SMS.

You can still use internet-based communication services such as:

  • WhatsApp
  • FaceTime
  • Signal
  • Messenger
  • Teams
  • Zoom
  • Google Meet

If you need your Canadian number for verification messages, calls or voicemail, keep the Canadian SIM active as a secondary line.

Receiving an SMS does not always trigger a Canadian carrier’s daily roaming charge, but carrier rules differ. Answering calls, making calls, checking voicemail, sending SMS or allowing the Canadian line to use data may create roaming charges.

Vodafone eSIM Activation and Setup

Vodafone recommends installing the eSIM before departure and activating it after reaching the destination.

The current Vodafone Travel installation guide says the eSIM must be activated within 120 days of purchase.

Once activated, the eSIM profile remains valid for 90 days independently of the duration of the individual data plan.

This profile lifetime matters if you expect to top up the same eSIM for several trips. A plan may expire before the underlying profile, but the profile itself is not intended to remain available indefinitely.

Infographic showing Canadian travellers how to install Vodafone Travel eSIM before departure, protect their Canadian line and activate the travel eSIM after arrival.

Set Up Vodafone Travel Before Leaving Canada

  1. Confirm that your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked.
  2. Purchase the correct country or regional plan.
  3. Open the QR code or installation information from the confirmation email.
  4. Install the eSIM while connected to reliable Wi-Fi.
  5. Label the new line “Vodafone Travel” or “Travel Data.”
  6. Keep the line installed until you reach the destination.
  7. After arrival, select Vodafone Travel as the mobile-data line.
  8. Turn data roaming on for the Vodafone Travel eSIM.
  9. Turn data roaming off for your Canadian line unless you intentionally want to use Canadian roaming.
  10. Disable automatic cellular-data switching to reduce the risk of your phone falling back to the Canadian line.

Vodafone says the APN should be set to:

live.vodafone.com

Most phones should configure the connection automatically. If the eSIM shows a signal but data does not work, checking the data-roaming and APN settings is a reasonable first step.

Do not delete the Vodafone Travel profile while troubleshooting. Vodafone warns that an eSIM cannot be reused after it has been removed from the phone.

The eSIM Compatibility Checker can help confirm whether your phone supports eSIM before purchasing.

Using Vodafone Travel With a Canadian SIM

A dual-SIM setup allows Vodafone Travel to handle mobile data while your Canadian line remains available separately.

The usual configuration is:

Phone functionRecommended line
Mobile dataVodafone Travel
Data roaming on Vodafone TravelOn
Canadian data roamingOff
Automatic data switchingOff
Canadian calls and SMSCanadian line, if needed
WhatsApp and other data-based appsVodafone Travel data

Keeping the Canadian SIM enabled does not make every Canadian-line activity free.

Carrier roaming policies determine whether calls, outgoing texts, voicemail and incoming communication trigger charges. Review the current rules for your Canadian plan before leaving.

For a broader explanation, see Travel eSIM vs International Roaming for Canadians.

You can also use the Canadian Roaming Savings Calculator to compare a prepaid eSIM with the estimated cost of keeping Canadian roaming active.

Vodafone eSIM Fair Use and Acceptable Use Rules

Vodafone Travel is intended for temporary roaming outside your country of residence.

Its current Acceptable Usage Policy says the service must be purchased in a personal capacity and used for private, personal and legitimate purposes.

The policy also prohibits using it for business marketing, promotion, administration or another non-personal purpose.

This creates an important distinction.

I used Vodafone Travel during a combination of real business and personal trips. That truthfully describes when the testing happened. It does not mean Vodafone Travel should be presented as a corporate mobile service or centrally administered business plan.

A traveller may carry a personal phone while attending a business trip, but organizations looking for a formal business connectivity product should review the policy carefully.

Vodafone also reserves the right to apply traffic management, additional charges, suspension or termination when it considers usage harmful, excessive or outside the permitted terms.

Worth Knowing: Using Vodafone Travel on a Work Trip

Buying a Vodafone Travel eSIM for your own phone and using it during a work trip is different from reselling eSIMs or managing service for multiple employees. Companies purchasing or distributing eSIMs for staff should review Vodafone Travel’s current business-use terms before ordering.

Tracking Data and Adding a Top-Up

Vodafone Travel lets customers monitor their allowance through its website or mobile app.

The company says it sends notifications when 80% and 100% of the allowance has been used. Additional data can be purchased through the account or app when an eligible top-up is available.

Check both the plan expiry and the underlying eSIM profile expiry before adding more data.

Customer comments include complaints about purchasing additional data close to a profile’s expiration. That does not establish that every top-up will have a problem, but it is a good reason to confirm the remaining profile validity before paying.

Vodafone eSIM App, Support and Refunds

Vodafone offers iOS and Android apps for buying, installing and managing the eSIM.

The app is not mandatory for every step because plans can also be purchased and managed through the website. This is useful if the app is unavailable or unstable on a particular device.

Vodafone advertises 24-hour live-chat support.

Current customer feedback is mixed. Some travellers report quick installation, reliable service and helpful agents. Others describe connections that did not work, slow or inconsistent performance, app problems, long support conversations and difficulty obtaining refunds.

Those reports should be treated as context rather than controlled testing. Travel eSIM performance can vary by country, device, local partner and configuration.

They still matter because connectivity and support problems are particularly disruptive when someone has already arrived abroad.

My own multi-country results were considerably stronger than many of the negative reports. The fair conclusion is that Vodafone Travel can perform very well, but the experience is not equally reliable for every traveller or destination.

Vodafone Travel Refunds

Vodafone directs customers to the account section to check refund eligibility and recommends contacting support when a problem cannot be resolved.

Do not assume a refund will be automatic simply because the connection was disappointing or some data was used during troubleshooting.

Before purchasing:

  • Confirm the destination and regional coverage.
  • Check the activation and expiration dates.
  • Verify that the phone is unlocked and eSIM-compatible.
  • Save the order confirmation and installation instructions.
  • Contact support promptly if the service does not connect.
  • Keep screenshots of errors and support conversations.

A backup connection can also prevent a support problem from becoming a travel emergency.

Vodafone Travel eSIM vs Other Europe eSIMs

Vodafone Travel is not automatically the best option for every European itinerary.

The right alternative depends on whether you prioritize large fixed allowances, unlimited data, an app, a phone number or clearer network information.

ProviderBest suited toMain difference from Vodafone Travel
Vodafone TravelHigh-data and multi-country European tripsLarge Europe allowances, hotspot and strong results in my testing
UbigiTravellers wanting fixed plans and a reusable profileMature app and broad regional choices
SailyTravellers prioritizing a simple app and security featuresApp-led experience with additional privacy and security tools
Orange TravelTravellers who need an eligible European number, calls or SMSSome plans provide traditional mobile-service features
HolaflyTravellers wanting unlimited data for an exact number of daysFlexible-duration unlimited plans with plan-specific hotspot limits

Vodafone Travel eSIM vs Ubigi

Vodafone Travel and Ubigi can both work well for a multi-country European trip.

Vodafone Travel becomes particularly attractive when its larger promotional allowances are available or when a shared plan fits the group.

Ubigi may be more appealing if you want a reusable profile and a mature app-based experience across repeated trips. Compare the current plan allowance, validity, hotspot terms and countries before choosing.

The full Ubigi eSIM Review explains how its reusable profile and travel plans work.

Vodafone Travel eSIM vs Saily

Saily focuses heavily on app simplicity and additional security features.

Vodafone Travel’s main advantage is the combination of a recognizable carrier brand, large Europe allowances and the strong speeds I observed. Saily can be the more comfortable choice for travellers who prioritize a straightforward app and its built-in security tools.

Both are generally data-only, so neither should be treated as a replacement for a traditional mobile line when ordinary calls or SMS are required.

See the Saily eSIM Review for a closer look at its plans, app and travel features.

Vodafone Travel eSIM vs Orange Travel eSIM

Orange Travel is the most relevant carrier-branded alternative.

Some Orange Travel products can include a European number, voice minutes and SMS. That gives Orange an advantage when traditional communication is important.

Vodafone Travel is better suited to someone who mainly needs data and is satisfied using apps for calls. Its larger Europe allowances can also be attractive when the trip involves heavy data use or hotspot sharing.

Compare the exact Orange product rather than assuming every Orange eSIM includes calling features.

Vodafone Travel eSIM vs Holafly

Holafly is designed around unlimited plans that can often be purchased for an exact number of travel days.

Vodafone Travel offers both fixed-data and unlimited options, but its unlimited service includes 5GB of high-speed data per day before speeds are reduced to up to 5 Mbps.

Holafly also applies plan-specific fair-use and hotspot rules. The word “unlimited” does not make either provider automatically better.

Vodafone Travel may offer better value when a large fixed allowance is enough. Holafly may be easier to budget when the trip length is known and data use is unpredictable.

The Holafly eSIM Review covers its unlimited model in more detail.

Who Should Choose Vodafone Travel?

Vodafone Travel makes the most sense when:

  • You are visiting several European countries.
  • You need a large fixed-data allowance.
  • You want hotspot sharing.
  • You are comfortable using apps for calls and messages.
  • You want to install the eSIM before departure.
  • The trip fits within the plan and profile validity.
  • You value the strong performance I observed across Europe.

Who Should Consider Another Option?

Another provider may be better when:

  • You need a European phone number.
  • You require ordinary voice calls or SMS.
  • You want an eSIM profile designed to remain available for much longer.
  • You need clearly disclosed partner networks in every destination.
  • You prefer an unlimited plan with a duration selected by exact travel days.
  • You need a corporate or business-administered connectivity product.
  • A service interruption would create a serious operational or safety problem and you do not have a backup.

Is Vodafone Travel eSIM Worth It for Canadians?

Vodafone Travel is worth considering for Canadians travelling through Europe, particularly when a regional trip involves several countries and substantial data use.

The current Europe plans can cost considerably less than paying a Canadian carrier’s daily roaming fee throughout a longer trip. They also provide a separate allowance, so travel use does not consume data from the Canadian plan.

The tradeoff is that Vodafone Travel does not replace everything provided by Canadian roaming.

Rogers, Bell, TELUS and other Canadian roaming services may keep your regular number, calls, texts and voicemail working with fewer changes to the phone. That convenience can be worthwhile on a very short trip or when an employer pays the roaming cost.

Vodafone Travel is generally the better fit when mobile data and cost control matter more than using the Canadian line as normal.

Vodafone Travel eSIM FAQs

Is Vodafone Travel eSIM worth it in Europe?

Vodafone Travel is worth considering when you need substantial data across several European countries. Its regional plan currently covers 42 countries, includes hotspot sharing and avoids the need to install a different eSIM each time you cross a European border.

Performance was also a major strength in my testing. I recorded approximate download speeds between 120 and 190 Mbps across eight countries, including strong results in the Azores.

The main limitations are the lack of a phone number, ordinary calls and SMS. Travellers who want clearly identified partner networks in every country should also compare other options.

Which networks can Vodafone Travel use in Europe?

Vodafone Travel is a roaming eSIM that connects through Vodafone’s available network arrangements in each destination. It should not be assumed that the service will always use a local Vodafone network.

Germany has the clearest official disclosure. Vodafone identifies Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone Deutschland and Telefónica Germany, also known as O2, as typical network options.

Vodafone does not publish the same detailed network list for every European country. When a destination page does not identify the available networks, the Vodafone name or a fast speed test should not be used to guess the serving carrier.

How well did Vodafone Travel eSIM work in the Azores?

Vodafone Travel performed very well during my trip through Portugal and the Azores. I averaged approximately 180 Mbps for downloads, 53 Mbps for uploads and 27 milliseconds of latency across that experience.

These are first-hand travel observations rather than guaranteed speeds for every island or location. Terrain and local coverage can vary considerably across the archipelago, so offline maps remain useful when travelling outside the main population centres.

Are a phone number, calls or SMS included?

Vodafone Travel is a data-only eSIM. It does not provide an ordinary mobile number, standard voice minutes or SMS.

WhatsApp, FaceTime, Signal, Teams and other internet-based services can use the Vodafone data connection. Travellers who need their Canadian number can keep their Canadian SIM active separately, although their carrier’s roaming rules will still apply to calls, texts, voicemail and any data used by that line.

How does Vodafone Travel unlimited data work?

Vodafone’s unlimited option currently includes 5GB of high-speed data each day. After that daily allowance is used, the connection continues at speeds of up to 5 Mbps.

The plan therefore provides unlimited total data during its validity, but not unlimited data at full speed. That distinction matters most when streaming extensively, transferring large files or using a laptop through the hotspot.

Check the current duration, price and fair-use terms before buying because unlimited-plan details can change.

When should you install and activate Vodafone Travel eSIM?

Install the eSIM before leaving Canada while you have reliable Wi-Fi, but wait until you reach the covered destination before activating it.

Vodafone currently allows the eSIM to be activated within 120 days of purchase. Once activated, the underlying profile remains valid for 90 days, independently of the shorter validity period attached to an individual data plan.

Do not delete the profile while troubleshooting because Vodafone warns that a removed eSIM cannot be reused.

How do you use Vodafone Travel with a Canadian SIM?

Most dual-SIM phones can keep a Canadian line active while Vodafone Travel handles mobile data.

Select Vodafone Travel as the mobile-data line, enable data roaming for that eSIM and turn roaming off for the Canadian line. Disabling automatic cellular-data switching can also prevent the phone from unexpectedly falling back to Canadian roaming.

The Canadian line can remain available for calls or verification messages, but keeping it enabled does not make every activity free. Check the roaming rules for your Canadian plan before departure.

What happens if I delete my Vodafone Travel eSIM?

Vodafone says a deleted eSIM profile cannot be reused. Do not remove it while troubleshooting a connection problem.

Check that Vodafone Travel is selected for mobile data, data roaming is enabled and the APN is set correctly before contacting support. Deleting the profile should be treated as a final step because the original eSIM cannot simply be installed again.

Final Thoughts

Vodafone Travel delivered some of the strongest and most consistent travel eSIM speeds I have experienced across a multi-country European itinerary.

My approximate download results ranged from 120 Mbps in France to 190 Mbps in the Netherlands, with strong performance in Germany, Portugal, the Azores, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and Belgium.

The current Europe plans provide useful regional coverage, large data allowances, hotspot support and selected unlimited options. That makes Vodafone Travel particularly attractive for travellers crossing several borders or using more data than a small country plan can provide.

The limitations are equally important.

Vodafone Travel is data-only, network disclosure varies by country, unlimited data is not unlimited at full speed, the profile remains valid for only 90 days after activation and current customer feedback shows that reliability and support can differ substantially between travellers.

For a Canadian traveller who mainly needs fast mobile data across Europe, Vodafone Travel deserves a place on the shortlist. Choose the plan that matches the complete itinerary, configure the Canadian SIM carefully and keep a backup option available when connectivity is critical.
